Why Vote for Monro?

Programming

Monro’s journey to developing community programming started in 2017 after the death of both of parents, which led to the creation of Seniors First Inc as founder and executive director. Monro’s ties to the community have led to the development of her skills in public relations, senior care, youth-based sports tournaments, workforce development, fundraising, political advocacy, and public policy to bring statewide impacts to building sound relationships with decision makers in the United States Congress.

The History of the “Monro Brown” Sound

From the Cradle to the Radio Waves

At just four years old, Monro Brown’s love for sound was born—spinning Chaka Khan records on a ‘45-inch player, unknowingly preparing for a future in global radio and media.
In 2010, Monro made waves in the music industry with the release of their debut album, Reality Check – No Free Rides, securing nationwide distribution in Walmart and major online retailers with Music Producer and Grammy-Award Winner and Guitarist Ron Johnson Her talent led her to open for the legendary three-time Grammy Award winner Bobby Rush and perform at major events, such as the  Shreveport’s Annual “Rho Omega & Friends Let the Good Times Roll” Festival, alongside Zydeco icon Keith Frank.
Her smooth, soulful sound even landed on the Billboard charts with the a “single” performance on the Christmas jazz single “Noel”, a colorful collaboration with “superstar” and global songwriter, musician and composer Michael Garvin (twenty-two #1 hits) of the most added songs of the season annually on Apple downloads.

2024 Supreme Court Victory with Power Coalition

In February 2022, Monro’s voice took on an even greater role—as a voice for the people, advocating for justice before the Louisiana State Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, led by the Power Coalition non-profit organization of New Orleans, Louisiana, at the Louisiana State Capitol. Her role as a 2020 Louisiana State Manager as a “material” witness provided data information that challenged the Louisiana State Supreme Court, with reliable testimony, and later became one of the initial plaintiffs. Brown was represented by the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and the ACLU. This historic effort contributed to the groundbreaking Robinson vs. Landry case (Callais v. Landry), culminating in a victory at the U.S. Supreme Court in May 2024, which added two Louisiana  Black-majority congressional districts held by the current U.S Congressman of Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District
From music to media, from the airwaves to the halls of justice, Monro Brown continues to blaze a trail for change.
